Trump imposes a ban on 2,000 US Aid employees.

US President Donald Trump has imposed a ban on 2,000 employees of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) as part of his ongoing efforts to cut government spending. The decision has raised concerns among remaining employees, and Trump has defended his actions, claiming that USAID's activities, including aid to India’s elections, contribute to unnecessary waste. This move comes after approval from a federal judge and includes halting funding for some programs.

Trump imposes a ban on 2,000 US Aid employees.

Washington: US President Donald Trump has ramped up his actions. After halting American aid to various countries, Trump has now imposed a ban on employees of the US Agency for International Development (USAID). A notice on the USAID website revealed that around 2,000 employees are being removed. Additionally, some of the remaining employees worldwide are being forced to take leave, with exceptions for a few.

The Trump administration moved forward with the layoffs after receiving approval from a federal judge. The request from employee unions to issue orders to halt government plans was rejected by US District Judge Carl Nicholas. Under the leadership of Musk, who is working to reduce unnecessary government spending, the Department of Defense (DoD) has already imposed restrictions on many USAID employees. This recent decision has raised concerns among the remaining employees. Musk has previously accused USAID of wasteful spending, calling it a criminal organization.

Trump's administration announced that it would stop funding in this context. As part of these actions, nearly 600 employees were prevented from entering office buildings. Federal Judge Amir Ali issued a temporary stay on these orders last week. The judge questioned how the government could halt the aid that had been approved by US Congress members for USAID. Despite this, Trump continues to defend his actions. He has repeatedly accused USAID of contributing ₹182 crores to increase voter turnout in India's elections (Vaartha).
